FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1.1. What is Glycogen?
Carbohydrates are body's most readily available source of nutrient energy. During digestion carbohydrates are converted into glucose, which is used as an immediate source of "fuel." Glucose that is not directly used to provide energy is transported to the liver and muscle, where it is converted to glycogen. Thus, glycogen is the stored energy, which
the body taps into when energy demands are placed on it. It should be noted that the glycogen storage capacity of liver and muscle is rather limited. Consequently, if carbohydrates are consumed in excess of what the body needs could be stored as fat in the adipose tissue.

1.2. Can enzymes be taken with other nutritional supplements?
Yes, enzymes are proteins that are naturally produce in the body. As such, they do not interfere with any other nutritional supplements and may actually enhance the effectiveness of other nutrients.

1.3. Do athletes really need vitamin supplements?
Nutrients are vital for healthy functioning organs, skin and eyesight, strong bones, nervous system and general well-being. Long-term deficiencies can cause poor health. Demanding work schedules, exercise and some lifestyle habits can also be punishing on the body and increase the need for vitamins and minerals. A balanced diet may not always deliver the needed vitamins and minerals due to some food production, as well as farming and processing methods. Of course foods contain a broad range of micro &
macronutrients, so it is always important to consume healthy foods, and fresh fruits and vegetables. However, scientific studies have proven that a good diet may no longer be good enough for optimum health and disease prevention. The world-leading Journal of the American Medical Association (vol 287, no 23, 19 June 2002) recently published an article recommending "all adults take one multivitamin daily". This recommendation comes after the assessment of over 30 years of clinical studies from around the world.

2.1 What is D-Pinitol?
D-pinitol is a naturally occuring compound that can be found in some plants, trees, and foods. D-pinitol has demonstrated effects similar to insulin that drive creatine and other nutrients into the muscles. D-pinitol is a methyl-inositol extract that promotes the transport of glucose and glycogen synthesis.

2.2 I eat a lot of fish, chicken, eggs, soy and beef. Why do I still need whey protein?

Healthy diets should regularly include high quality, low fat sources of protein, like whey protein. Calories do count and you want to make sure that you are getting the most benefit from the calories you consume. Compared to other proteins, on a gram-to-gram basis whey protein isolate delivers more essential amino acids to the body but without the fat or cholesterol.

2.3 Is whey protein isolate compatible with a low-carbohydrate diet?
Yes. Whey protein isolate is not only compatible with low-carbohydrate diets it is an ideal choice. Whey protein isolate provides high quality protein without the carbohydrates and fat often limited in low-carbohydrate diets.

2.4 How is Prostar Whey Taken?
It can be ingested in many different ways. Most commonly, it is either mixed with water or a nutritious beverage. It can be taken numerous times during the day to boost energy, but it is most beneficial if taken immediately after intense exercise. Two or three servings daily are recommended for those involved in vigorous exercise to ensure maintenance of positive nitrogen balance. This allows the body to repair and build muscle and minimize muscle breakdown.

2.5 How Does Prostar Whey Boost Immunity?
Whey protein is quite singular in its property to boost immunity by increasing the body's own antioxidants. In addition, Prostar Whey is blended such that the immune boosting proteins are retained, which include bglobulin,
a-lactalbumin, glycomacropeptide, immunoglobulins and, among others, lactoferrin. All constituents in this category inherently boost the immune system, which does become weakened somewhat with sustained exercise regimens.

2.6 How Does Prostar Whey Taste?
Prostar Whey has been blended with delicious flavors to overcome the chemical taste that the amino acids normally tend to have. Importantly, its taste is the result of a complex low-temperature that utilizes proprietary refinements to capture the beneficial principles in whey.

2.7 Does Prostar Whey Induce Growth Hormone?
Insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is the hormone released during growth hormone metabolism. The amount of IGF-1 produced is determines the extent of growth hormone on growth in general. Studies have shown that
IGF-1 rises in direct proportion to the quantity and quality of protein in the diet. Hydrolyzing whey increases its biological value (please see Ultimate Nutrition's Webpage on Super Amino 2000) that, in turn, increases
the release of IGF-1 making whey the best body-building protein available by far.

2.8 How is Whey Supreme Taken?
It can be ingested in many different ways. Most commonly, it is mixed with either water or skim milk for delicious nutritious beverage. Fruit, honey, yogurt or other foods can be added to make a thicker full bodied nutrition drink, if desired. It can be taken numerous times a day, but it is most beneficial if taken 30 to 45 minutes before the workout and
again one hour after the completion of workout.

2.9 Does Whey Supreme Boost Immunity?
Yes. Whey protein is much superior to other proteins in its property to boost immunity by
increasing the body's own antioxidants. Ultimate Nutrition's Whey Supreme is isolated by
a complex low temperature processing system to retain immune boosting proteins which
include B-Globulin, A-Lactalbumin, Glycomacropeptide, immunoglobins and, among
others, Lactoferrin. All constituents in this category inherently boot the immune system.

2.10 How Does Whey Supreme Taste?
Whey Supreme is available in five delicious flavors - vanilla, strawberry, banana, pina
colada, and chocolate. All these flavors are blended in such a way that the undesirable
taste of Amino Acids is overcome. All the three favors, when mixed with water or skim
milk make a delicious nutritious drink.

2.11 Who benefits from protein?
Protein is an important nutrient needed by everyone on a daily basis. It is made up of essential and non-essential amino acids, which are the "building blocks" for healthy bodies. Protein has a number of different roles in the body including repairing body cells, building and repairing muscles and bones, providing a source of energy, and controlling many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism. Whey protein is a high quality, complete protein, with all the essential amino acids. Whey protein is also the richest known source of naturally occurring branched chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine). These are important for active individuals, individuals who exercise and professional athletes. Many athletes consume a whey beverage both before and immediately after exercise or an event to help repair and rebuild lean muscle tissue.

2.12 Does Whey Protein Boost Immunity?

Yes. Whey protein is superior to other proteins in its property to boost immunity by increasing the body's own antioxidants. Ultimate Nutrition's Protein Sensation 81 is
isolated by a complex low temperature processing system to retain immune boosting proteins which include B-Globulin, A-Lactalbumin, Glycomacropeptide, Immunoglobins and, among others, Lactoferrin. All constituents in this category inherently boot the immune system.

2.13 Why are BCAAs beneficial?
BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) comprise of 1/3 of muscle tissue and are the first amino acids to be catabolized due to intense exercise. Therefore, dietary BCAA supplementation is particularly important for hard-training individuals looking to maximize their muscle gains. The body requires higher amounts of branched chain amino acids during and following exercise as they are taken up directly by the skeletal muscles versus first being metabolized through the liver, like other amino acids. Low BCAA levels contribute to fatigue and they should be replaced in one-hour or less following exercise or participation in a competitive event.

3.1 What is an effective amount of CLA?
To achieve optimal benefits from CLA, it is best to consume 3g per day in combination with a healthy diet and regular exercise. To reach the optimal daily dosage of CLA, one can supplement the diet with one CLAPure softgel with each meal.

3.2. Is CLA safe and are there any side effects?
CLA is safe. No adverse side effects have been observed with the recommended dose. Used as part of a healthy lifestyle, CLA can effectively aid in reducing fat and building lean muscle mass. Ultimate Nutrition’s CLAPure CLA does not contain any natural or artificial stimulants. In addition, CLAPure CLA has many other equally important health
benefits make it a sound supplement choice for better overall health.

3.3 Is there anything I should avoid combining with CLA?
Do not take chitosan and CLA together. The chitosan will absorb the CLA and prevent it from getting into the bloodstream.

3.4 Can Diet Ripped replace physical activity or changes in eating habits as a way to lose weight?
No. The use of Diet Ripped to help lose weight should be combined with physical activity and improved diet to lose and maintain weight successfully over the long term. In their search for the best weight loss program, many people forget the vital role that exercise plays in maintaining a healthy body weight. Once you've reached your target weight especially, your focus will shift away from the best weight loss program to a plan geared towards weight maintenance. That's when physical activity assumes far greater
importance.

3.5 What tips can I follow to make the most out of my Diet Ripped use?

A very important tip to follow is to drink plenty of water. Please drink at least a 12 oz glass of water with each serving. This is beneficial for several reasons. Glucomannan’s effectiveness is based on its ability to swell in your stomach. This fiber absorbs water like a sponge leading to a feeling of fullness. Also, water is a natural, fat-free appetite suppressant that contains no calories and no cholesterol. It's low in sodium, helps the body metabolize fat, helps maintain skin and muscle tone, and improves energy levels.
With so many benefits, we all should aim for eight glasses of water a day!

3.6 Will Diet Ripped make me jittery, anxious or nervous?
No, it should not make you feel jittery, anxious or nervous. You will feel an increase in energy, but not nervousness. We formulated Diet Ripped to contain less caffeine per serving than a cup of coffee. With this in mind, it is suggested that you limit your caffeine intake from other sources while taking Diet Ripped.

4.1 How much ZMA should I take?
The recommended daily dose of ZMA is three capsules for men and two capsules for women taken on an empty stomach 30-60 minutes before bedtime.

4.2 Why should it be taken before bedtime?
This is because ZMA enhances recovery by improving sleep efficiency. Healing, anabolic hormone production and muscle growth are maximized during sleep, so quality sleep is extremely important to all of us.

4.3 Why should I avoid dairy or other calcium-containing foods or supplements?

Since calcium interferes with the absorption of zinc and magnesium, it is recommended that ZMA not be taken with dairy products or other calcium-containing foods or supplements.

4.4 What side effects are caused by ZMA?
Since both magnesium and zinc are natural constituents of most vitamin/mineral supplements that athletes often take on a daily basis, the threat of potential side effects is minimal if it even exists. As of yet, there have been no reported or known side effects from taking ZMA. Thus no adverse side effects should be encountered.

4.5 What is I3C?
Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) is a naturally occurring phytochemical found in cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and kale. I3C provides powerful antioxidant protection, helping to prevent cellular damage caused by free radicals. In addition, I3C is converted to DIM in the body and can help to maintain healthy normal hormonal balance.

4.6 Where is Hawthorne Berry found and what is it used for?

Hawthorne Berry (crataegus oxyacantha) comes from the hawthorne shrub, a spiny tree that is indigenous to the Mediterranean region. Hawthorne Berry has a primary chemical constituent that includes vitamin C, flavonoids (quercetin, quercetrin), glycosides, proanthocyanidins, anthocynaidins, saponins, tannins, and cratetegin (most prevalent in the flowers, then leaves, then berries). Since the 19th century hawthorne berries have been used to support the heart, and to normalize cardiovascular functions. Hawthorne
berry helps protect the arterial walls, can dilate (enlarge) coronary blood vessels (the vessels supplying the heart with vital oxygen, blood, and nutrients), and strengthens the heart's pumping ability. They inhibit cAMP phosphodiesterase; the enzyme responsible for breaking down cyclic adenosine monophosphate (a secondary messenger of luteinizing hormone).

4.7 How should TestostroGrow 2 HP be used?

TestostroGrow 2 HP is a versatile time-release anabolic stack that combines the most effective testosterone stimulators available. It has been precisely formulated to potentiate testosterone in order to ensure a steady, nonstop state of increased testosterone for more successful anabolic results. Take 1 tablet 3 times daily, preferably with meals. It should be used for 21 days, followed by a 3 to 4 week “off-period” before repeating.

4.8 Is it OK for women to take Tribulus terrestris?

Yes, Tribulus can be taken by women. There have been clinical studies on
menopausal women that show Tribulus can reduce the symptoms of menopause including an alleviation of hot flashes, sweating, depression, insomnia, and anxiety. Testosterone levels in women become slightly elevated, but not enough to result in any masculinity effects. They are able to lose body fat more rapidly, increase strength and lean body mass with no water retention.

4.9 How much Tribulus should I take?

Suggested use is 1-2 capsules daily divided among meals. One capsule contains 750 mg of Tribulus Terrestris L

4.10 Can I stack Tribulus?

Studies show that it works very well when stacked with DHEA and androstenedione. Some people stack it with about 100 mg per day of DHEA. The steroid precursor DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is promoted as a testosterone enhancer, but it works differently
than Tribulus. DHEA provides the raw material for testosterone formation, while, as mentioned previously, Tribulus increases luteinizing hormone levels and therefore may affect testosterone production.

4.11 Are there side effects?

About one in ten people have associated some gastrointestinal upset with taking Tribulus terrestris. Taking food with it can minimize these effects if you are that one in ten.

4.12 What Does GABA Taste Like?

GABA is an amino acid: Its taste can be described as somewhat medicinal or chemical, because the Ultimate Nutrition product does not contain any adultrating flavors or fillers.

4.13 Can GABA Be Mixed with a Protein Drink?

GABA can be taken with any other supplement, but not at the same time. Since it is a single amino acid, its absorption will be maximized in a "noncompetitive" environment, which will yield better results. Since GABA is ordinarily taken at the bedtime, this should not be a problem.

4.14 Are There Any Side Effects Associated with GABA?

Some people have reported tingling on the surface of the skin for a few minutes after the intake of GABA. This may be likened to the well- known "niacin flush." GABA may also induce a slight shortness of breath, which is also transient and is experienced by a small percentage of people.

Rather rarely, both these sensations may be experienced by a small percentage of people, but they are temporary, and resolve of their own accord. It should be noted that GABA has a slight sedative effect and causes drowsiness. Therefore, it should be taken right before retiring for the
day.

4.15 Who should take Glucosamine & Chondroitin & MSM?

It is recommended for anyone with uncomfortable, stiff and aching joints. It can also benefit those who participate in regular physical activity by helping to maintain joint health and reduce stress from repetitive or jarring motions.

4.16 Is there anyone who shouldn’t take this product?

If you are allergic to shellfish or fish, consult your doctor before deciding to take Glucosamine & Chondroitin & MSM.

4.17 How long will it take for me to feel positive results?

The benefits of Glucosamine & Chondroitin & MSM supplementation develop over time. Generally, it may take 2 to 8 weeks before you see noticeable

5.1 What is the suggested method to use Kre-Alkalyn®?

The directions are to take 1-2 capsules once in the morning and once prior to exercise. It is recommend that most people do not exceed 4 capsules or 3 grams a day.

5.2 How soon can I expect to see results?

Many athletes see results after the very first day, however the majority sees result within 3-5 days.

5.3 Can I stack Kre-Alkalyn® with other products?

You may combine Kre-Alkalyn® with protein and with carbohydrates. If you also use our NO booster ArgiNOne, make sure to take your Kre-Alkalyn® serving about an hour or so before or after the ArgiNOne serving. The reason for this is that Arginine Alpha- Ketoglutarate is actually quite acidic.

5.4 What is Creatine Monohydrate Dosage?

Creatine is taken in two phases. The first phase is the so-called "loading phase when creatine is used to load the body. Depending on the individual, it could vary between one and five days with approximately five grams of creatine is taken three to four times a day. In the "maintenance" phase following the "loading" phase, creatine levels are maintained by a dose of five to 15 grams per day in divided dosages of five gram at one sitting for up to three months.

5.5 Who Uses Creatine Monohydrate?

According to reports professional athletes and Olympians use creatine monhydrate to enhance their performance. Creatine is taken most commonly ingested by weightlifters and bodybuilders. Since muscle strength and endurance increases all athletic performance, athletes of all stripes benefit from creatine supplementation, including runners, swimmers, cyclists, skiers, martial artists, wrestlers, football and rugby players and tennis and basketball players.

5.6 Is Creatine Found in Foods?

To varying degrees creatine is found in many foods. The richest source of creatine is lean red meat and fish. A 2.2-pound steak contains roughly six grams of creatine. It should be pointed out that eating large amounts of red meat might be unhealthy.

5.7 Is There Creatine Deficiency?

Since creatine breaks down rapidly during the first few minutes of intense exercise, creatine deficiency may ensue. That may result in decline in muscle power and onset of fatigue during intense muscle contractions.

5.8 Is There Creatine Balance in the Muscle?

Yes, the muscle has creatine equilibrium. Creatine has a normal turnover rate of
2 grams per day. That is, two grams of creatine are irreversibly degraded and, in its place, equivalent amount is synthesized to replace it. There is a balance between creatine pool inside the muscle cells and creatine circulating in the blood. After the start of creatine supplementation, this balance may be slightly perturbed, but the body quickly adjusts to the new equilibrium within a few days.

6.1 What Are the Natural Sources of BCAAs?

Although branched-chain amino acids are present in all protein-containing foods, dairy and red meats contains the largest amounts of BCAAs. Whey protein and egg protein supplements are additional sources of BCAAs (Please refer to the product profiles to learn more about whey protein and egg protein supplements.)

6.2 Could One Be Deficient in BCAAs?

Periods of intense physical stress, such as intense weightlifting and long-distance running, can create a so-called catabolic state in which muscle tissue is broken down faster than it can be recovered and replenished.

6.3 What Are the Side Effects of BCAA Supplementation?

No side effects have been reported with BCAA supplementation, if they are taken in the recommended amounts.

6.4 Could BCAAs be taken along with Other Nutrients?

It is advisable to take BCAAS with whole proteins, such as lean meat and poultry, and multiple vitamins and minerals, particularly with B-type vitamins.

6.5 What Are the Natural Sources of BCAAs?

Periods of intense physical stress, such as intense weightlifting and long-distance running, can create a so-called catabolic state in which muscle tissue is broken down faster than it can be recovered and replenished.

6.7 What is the Optimal Dose of BCAAs?

A diet containing animal protein should furnish adequate amounts of BCAAs. Athletes involved in intense training, however, require supplementation with BCAAS. Recommended dosages are roughly 2 grams a day each leucine and valine and 1 gram daily of isoleucine.

6.8 What Are the Side Effects of BCAA Supplementation?

No side effects have been reported with BCAA supplementation, if they are taken in the recommended amounts.

6.9 Could BCAAs be taken along with Other Nutrients?

It is advisable to take BCAAS with whole proteins, such as lean meat and poultry, and multiple vitamins and minerals, particularly with B-type vitamins.

6.10 What is Growth Hormone?

Growth hormone is a protein produced by the pituitary, an organ in the central nervous system, which is required for body growth and, maintenance of good health. With age, the pituitary becomes desensitized to secrete growth hormone, but does not lose its ability to synthesize it. All growth hormone replacement approaches seek to re-sensitize the pituitary to secrete this vital hormone.

6.11 What is a Secretagogue?

Secretagogue is the name given to any oral agent that is meant to stimulate the pituitary to secrete growth hormone.

6.12 Are There Any Secretagogues Available on the Market?

There are many agents that are marketed as growth hormone secretagogues. In a majority of cases, however, that claim should be taken with a grain of salt, since they contain recombinant growth hormone, mostly in homeopathic amounts. Homeopathic amounts generally are not considered to be sufficient to target the pituitary to stimulate growth hormone secretion.

6.13 What is Recombinant Growth Hormone?

Recombinant growth hormone is growth hormone produced by DNA technology.

6.14 Does Arginine Ornithine Lysine Mix Well with Other Amino Acids?

It should work extremely well with glutamine. Glutamine is another amino acid, which has been shown to effectively induce the production of growth hormone.

6.15 When is Arginine Ornithine Lysine Best Taken?

It is best to take it as a dietary supplement roughly 30 minutes before physical workout. Alternatively, it should be ingested on a relatively empty stomach either late in the evening or early in the morning.

6.16 Are There Any Side Effects?

No! In the amounts taken, Arginine Ornithine Lysine is safe and effective.
